General Convention meets prayerfully. Daily Bible studies and Eucharist services are attended by bishops, deputies, delegates to the Episcopal Church Women Triennial Meeting, and others registered to attend General Convention. Organizations within the church sponsor additional worship services, while volunteers staff a prayer room in which there is continual intercession for the work of convention.
In addition to the daily Eucharist services, a highlight of every General Convention is its festival Eucharist at which the United Thank Offering is presented. (The United Thank Offering is taken up in parishes twice each year for the mission of the church.) This year the Convention Festival Eucharist will be held Sunday, July 12, with Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori as celebrant and preacher. Daily Eucharists each have a theme, and a different bishop of the church officiates each day. The daily themes will be addressed by a different preacher each day, ranging from the presiding officers and Archbishop of Canterbury to a popular television correspondent and an internationally-known activist.
