Mustang Island Conference Center is an Episcopal camp and conference center in the Coastal Bend region of Texas. The conference center's mission is to provide a sacred place for our guests to rest, reflect, and renew their faith, surrounded by God’s coastal creation. It is open year-round and serves all God's children as a ministry of Christian hospitality to religious, educational, and non-profit organizations.
Mustang Island Conference Center is located in Port Aransas and at the center of Mustang Island, a barrier island off the South Coast of Texas, bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and Corpus Christi Bay. The Conference Center is 10 miles north of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Causeway, 9 miles south of the Port Aransas ferry landing, and about 30 miles from the Corpus Christi International Airport.
Each summer, the conference center hosts many sessions of Family Camp and other year-round retreats. Learn more and register in the Upcoming Events section below.
Reserve one of our 34 beautifully appointed rooms. 24 rooms have two queen beds and a twin sleeper sofa. 10 rooms have two queen beds and a full-size sleeper sofa. Each spacious room is equipped with a full bathroom, as well as a second sink located in the tiled entryway and coffee maker.
Savor the sunrise from the comfort of your personal deck or from the water's edge during an early morning stroll. All rooms have wireless internet service.
Mustang Island Conference Center's meeting spaces are designed to accommodate a variety of seating and table configurations. Each space is complemented by relaxing and restorative views. The largest indoor space is Fischer Commons. Audio / visual equipment (DVD/VCR) including a sound system, microphone, and overhead LCD projector with screen are available in Fischer Commons, along with a wireless Internet connection.
Many groups prefer a smaller meeting area; there are three available, overlooking the picturesque dunes and blue water of the Gulf. These small meeting spaces can accommodate up to twelve guests with tables and chairs. More can be accommodated without tables. All rooms have wireless internet connection.
Casa de la Playa is a larger room and is available to members of the Diocese of West Texas congregation for an individual spiritual retreat or a couple's spiritual retreat. It includes the following: king-size bed, kitchen and table, sofa, desk, towels, linens and cassette/CD player. Enjoy your view of sunrises over the Gulf of Mexico from your room or while sitting on your private deck. While on retreat, you prepare your own meals or enjoy dining in Port Aransas. Those staying in Casa de la Playa do not join other guests for meals or activities. Contact Leigh Saunders for more information and available dates.
Settle into one of the many outdoor sitting areas to visit with friends or to enjoy a good book (Bring that book from your nightstand that you haven't had time to finish or select an excellent title, magazine, or other reading material from our bookshelf.) At day's end, join other guests on the deck to witness the glorious sunset.
Mustang Island Conference Center is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Follow the boardwalk through the natural, barrier island dunes to our quiet, expansive, and well-maintained beach. Staff will set up complimentary beach umbrellas, at your request. Take a nap or read a book as you listen to the ocean and enjoy the fresh breeze.
We offer a campfire area for your enjoyment and will provide everything you need to experience sunset and s'mores on the beach.
Spend meaningful time with your family at the beach! At Mustang Island Family Camp your family has the opportunity to unplug, relax, and reconnect with what is most important – family, faith, community, and God’s glorious creation.
Each family stays in a beautifully furnished room with a private deck and view of the Gulf of Mexico. The program begins on a Thursday afternoon and continues through Sunday morning Eucharist. Enjoy swimming, singing, surfing instruction, arts & crafts, delicious meals, a buried treasure hunt, beach games, worship, building sand chapels and sand castles, fishing, resting under a beach umbrella, a campfire, and more.
Families plan and participate each day in worship with great music and hear a Biblically based teaching. An Episcopal priest serves as chaplain for each session and officiates at the closing worship service.

The Mustang Island Conference Center is an excellent place for religious, educational, and non-profit organizations, and families to gather. Our facility and campus, with their many amenities, are conducive to focusing on any task. Our beautiful facility, natural surroundings, and warm but unobtrusive hospitality offer an excellent place for prayer, reflection, worship, healing, and yes, even work.
Mustang Island Conference Center is located on the Gulf of Mexico and Texas coast, bordered by the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Corpus Christi Bay on the other. The center sits about halfway between Corpus Christi and Port Aransas and has several meeting areas around the campus, as well as private beach access by boardwalk.
Mustang Island Conference Center would love to host your conference or retreat. For rates and availability, please contact our Office Manager, Lynn Corby at 361-749-1800 or lynn.corby@dwtx.org. Programmatic planning assistance is also available, at request, for any event.
Mustang Island Conference Center is a wonderful and life changing place to learn, deepen and experience God's love. We would never turn a potential family away due to their financial situation. We encourage all parents to talk with the rector of their church about attending Mustang Island Conference Center and explore ways that their church might help. The parents, priest, or youth minister may contact the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas about upcoming camp scholarships.
In order to confirm your registration, the site will require a deposit payment. This deposit will count towards the family portion of your registration fee. If you need assistance with this amount, please contact the Office Manager, at lynn.corby@dwtx.org. Registration is not confirmed until the deposit has been taken care of. Even if all registration forms are complete, your family will not show up on the session roster until you speak with an administrator or pay the deposit.
Decide together whether you or the church will submit completed form to the camp office. If you do not attend an Episcopal church or would like to request a different scholarship arrangement, contact the camp office directly.
Please complete one form for each family. Scholarship applications for other diocesan camping programs should be sent to their respective camp offices.

Be prepared to complete the online form in one sitting, or save your progress as you go along. Before you begin the application, choose three references who are not related to you and have their phone numbers and email addresses ready to enter as part of the application process.
All applicants are considered for positions with the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and by extension Mustang Island Conference Center without regard to race, religion, color, gender, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
Camp Capers, Mustang Island Family Camp, and Duncan Park are wonderful and life changing places to learn, deepen faith, and experience God's love. We never want financial need to prevent a camper or family from participating in our programming. Each year one-third of all campers rely on partial or full scholarship assistance to attend. The Camps & Conferences Department believes that no child should miss out on a camp experience because of financial limitations, and our staff are continually humbled and grateful for the faithful support of this diocese and our camp community.
The Camp Scholarship Fund is raised through various donors and fundraising efforts. It allows families needing financial assistance an opportunity to experience the Diocese of West Texas camping programs, and is designed to pay approximately 1/3 of the tuition for its recipient. The expectation is that the camper's home church will pay another third, and the family will pay the remaining balance. Exceptions based on hardship will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We encourage all parents to talk with the priest at their church about attending a camp program and explore ways that their congregation might help.
