From the Diocese of West Texas Core Values

Evangelism - We proclaim by word and example, God's saving love revealed in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.
Mission - We reach beyond ourselves to serve all people in our communities and throughout the world.
The Purpose of World Mission:

The World Mission Department seeks to engage every member and every church of the diocese in the work of evangelism and mission.  We are working to be faithful to the Great Commission, Jesus Christ's command to "go therefore and make disciples of all the nations" (Matthew 28:19) and His Great Commandment "to love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:39)

2011 Grant Recipients

The diocesan World Mission Department has announced the recipients of the 2011 grants to be used for additional mission work outside the diocese. The money -- $162,242 -- was designated by congregations as the portion of their apportionment payment that they chose to be used for work outside the diocese rather than for support of The Episcopal Church. Each year since 2004, congregations have been given the opportunity to make these designations.

In all cases, the funds support additional work for existing projects that are funded under the World Mission umbrella. The work will take place in eight dioceses in seven different countries and ranges from supporting orphanages to drilling water wells. Designations are made by an ad hoc committee from the World Mission Department and the diocesan Executive Board.
