March 6, 2010 - Santa Fe Episcopal Church in San Antonio -  will host a "quarter auction" at 1108 Brunswick in San Antonio. Doors open for preview at 11:00a.m. and bidding starts at 12:00 p.m. Find out what a quarter auction is and see the flyer, click here. 

March 6, 2010 - St. Francis, San Antonio, will travel back in time to 1565 for a merrie weekend at St. Francis-upon-the-hill when it presents its Renaissance Faire.  The day will begin by celebrating our Anglican heritage with an authentic Elizabethan Mass in the church nave.  Admission is $5; $2 for those in period costume.  Children 10 and under will be admitted free, and there will be plenty of games and activities for them to enjoy.  Proceeds benefit the joint programs of St. Francis Church and Family Service Association. The Planning Guild is currently accepting applications from vendors.  Booth rentals are $45, $35 if the vendor also demonstrates a 16th-century craft.  See the Faire Web site at www.RenFaireSFCSA.org, or contact Holly Zook at (210) 521-0289 or RenFaireSFC@att.net for more information. The events run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, March 7 after the 10:00 a.m. service - St. Francis Church in San Antonio Renaissance Faire - come experience madrigal singers from UTSA, UIW, and Jay High School, as well as the Merrie Court Singers and Sally’s Garden; the Bedouin Dancers; and our own St. Francis Players doing Hamlet as you’ve never seen it. The Society for Creative Anachronism will be on hand to provide displays of weaponry, costume, and dancing. There are vendors and craftspeople scheduled to sell jewelry, costumes, skin-care products, and various other wares. Amy Johnson will have a kitchen area demonstrating cooking in Tudor times. And you can watch a real blacksmith, too. The Lion and Rose Pub will be on hand with authentic 16th-century food: turkey legs, meat pies, and sausages. There will be a baker with sweets for sale. And in addition to apple cider and lemonade, we’ll be selling ale and mead, a medieval honey wine.

Palm Sunday, March 28 - Christ Episcopal Church - Charity Messiah will be performed by the choirs of Christ Church and Laurel Heights Methodist and members of the San Antonio Symphony. 2010 Christian Women’s Conference at Christ Church in San Antonio - Friday, March 26 – evening/Saturday, March 27 morning. Featuring author and speaker Susan Yates, from Falls Church, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., and speaks nationally and internationally on marriage, parenting and women’s issues.  The format Friday evening will include Susan’s talk in the church, followed by a dessert reception in the Parish Hall. Guests will have an opportunity to meet and visit with Susan.  Her books will also be available for purchase and signing.On Saturday, we expect to have the chance to hear Susan speak two times, with a break in-between for muffins, coffee, and additional fellowship.
