Bishop-Elect Cortiñas Receives Consents for Consecration

Cortiñas to serve as Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of West Texas

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Grace to you and Peace. I pray the expectancy of this Advent season finds you eager to celebrate the Incarnation in a few short weeks. In October, we elected the Rev. Angela Cortiñas to be our bishop suffragan. This week, we received notification from the Office of the Presiding Bishop that Bishop-elect Cortiñas has received the necessary consents from bishops and standing committees to proceed with her consecration. The Most Rev. Sean Rowe, Presiding Bishop, will preside at the consecration on Saturday, March 15, at 10:00 am in St. John’s Church, in McAllen. More information surrounding the consecration will be coming to you in the new year. Click here to read the announcement issued by The Episcopal Church.

I invite you to keep Rev. Cortiñas in your prayers as she bids farewell to the clergy, staff and people of St. David’s in Austin and transitions into offices in the Bishop Jones Center. She will begin her ministry in West Texas during the week of January 12.

Blessings of love, joy and peace to you as we continue our Advent journey and celebrate the birth of Christ.

Peace,
+David

The Rt. Rev. Dr. David G. Read, D.D.
Bishop of West Texas
