As part of the 2023 Bishop's Address, Bishop David M. Reed announced the creation of a Study Group on Formation for Discipleship, led by the Ven. Mike Besson, Archdeacon, and a team from around the diocese. Bishop Reed tasked the group with assessing how discipleship formation is done in congregations throughout the Diocese and to provide resources and recommendations for his successor, the Rt. Rev. Dr. David G. Read as he fashions his vision for the Diocese of West Texas in the years to come.
The Study Group is sharing a five question survey with the diocese, in order to include as many different voices as possible in this conversation. The survey is anonymous, so that everyone may feel comfortable responding candidly, and should take about five minutes to complete. It includes three short questions about the meaning of the word 'disciple', a question asking for a brief story of your personal discipleship, and a request for resources or programs your church finds helpful.
