Plans Continue For Summer Camp 2020

[April 6, 2020] Summer Camp 2020 planning and preparations are well underway, and our counselors and staff are excited for another opportunity to spend our summers with you. Registration is open for Mustang Island Family Camp, Duncan Park Summer & Family Camp, and Camp Capers Summer Camp & Fall Retreats. Visit our website at dwtx.org/camps, to sign up and learn more.

After a spring semester marked by isolation and illness, the loving, Christ-centered camp community will help children, youth, and families reconnect with the best things in life. Imagine the deep, spiritual refreshment found in sunset s’mores on the beach, a cappella songs of praise in St. Francis Chapel, or a morning walk among the mountain pines. The lessons learned at camp are always important, but this summer camp could be the turning point for your camper or family’s year.

We are monitoring the situation daily and will adapt our programming as necessary to protect our camp community and comply with local, state, and national recommendations and mandates from the Texas Department of Health Services, local health departments and municipalities, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the event that any camp program must be canceled, registration fees can be reimbursed or credited to your account for future reservations. All of our staff members are taking great care to be proactive about the emerging community health concerns related to COVID-19. For specific registration questions, contact each camp office directly.

Your family's health and safety, and that of our greater community, is our top priority. We always take industry recommended precautions to reduce the spread of communicable diseases at camp, and this year we are adding a few practices in order to prioritize the health and safety of our guests and staff. These precautions include, but are not limited to, deep cleaning surfaces, 24-Hour Health Check-In Forms for youth camps, easily accessible hand sanitizer and tissues, and cautioning our staff to stay home when sick.

As summer approaches, please follow and interact with our camp programs through Facebook and Instagram.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact each individual site director, contact information below, or reach out to Rob Watson, Director of Camps and Conferences, at rob.watson@dwtx.org or 210-837-2788.
